Stuck here, moving there
I am in one of those “stuck” moments. A few weeks ago I was thrilled to have finished assembling all blocks in my “Books Quilt” and since then I have not been able to take it up again. It’s the borders, that’s all. I can’t for the life of me figure out what to do with the borders.
My idea was to come up with a clever quote or phrase that spoke about the goodness of reading, but the “great quote” is turning to be rather elusive.
Frustrated by my lack of imagination I turned my attention to the Flower Power quilt. If you remember well, I was done with the blocks and was working on sewing a couple hundred leaves on the borders. Well, now was the moment to sew leaves. This, I knew I could do.
Last week I finished sewing the borders on. I am quite proud of the mitered corners, as they were my first. I had to re-do the first one, but the others were sewn without a problem.
Here is a picture of the top (not quite finished yet). All black triangles except the corner ones are missing a few more green leaves.
You can get an idea of the size of this quilt if I tell you that my kids are standing on chairs and stretching their arms right up while holding it. It still reaches the floor and more!
It seems that my avoidance mechanism is working. Not knowing what to do with the books quilt might mean an early finish on this one.
Please let me know if you have any ideas for my borders…. I’ll be waiting desperately to hear from you.
