The year of the pillow?
Happy 2017! I can’t believe I have not posted anything yet this year. I do have a few projects that I could blog about but not a lot of time to sit down at the computer and upload photos.
Let’s start with last December. Over the holidays I managed to sew two pillows and finish off my four-layer quilt (posts to follow soon).
The Cat Pillow was an impulse project. Our friends Paul and Ehri were coming to spend Xmas with us and I thought I’d make something “cat” for Ehri (proud owner of two cats himself!). I used Elizabeth Hartman’s Cat Mini Quilt pattern and loved how easy it all came together.
The background is Robert Kaufman’s Essex Linen in Black, which I think is a great contrast to the rainbow colors. It did fray a little but it wasn’t too bad. I added some touches of applique.
I considered these Lennon-like glasses but in the end I went with these ones:
And Ana suggested the mustache:
For the quilting I used up packing tape to sew straight diagonal lines all around.
It was a fun project that was fairly quick to sew. I am very happy with the results.
I hope that Ehri is enjoying his pillow back in London.
Stay tuned for three more pillows to come (no more cats, though).
